The process of making Jealous of the Birds reminds us that our actions have consequences. The effects of our decisions play out across nations, cultures and generations.

It is, then, our responsibility to take action and become agents of positive change in the face of injustice. The following links are a few organizations which are aimed at doing just that:

Facing History & Ourselves |

Mission: Facing History and Ourselves is an international educational and professional development organization whose mission is to engage students of diverse backgrounds in an examination of racism, prejudice, and antisemitism in order to promote the development of a more humane and informed citizenry. By studying the historical development and lessons of the Holocaust and other examples of genocide, students make the essential connection between history and the moral choices they confront in their own lives.

Genocide Intervention |

Mission: Our mission is to empower individuals and communities with the tools to prevent and stop genocide.

Enough |

Mission: Enough conducts intensive field research in countries plagued by genocide and crimes against humanity, develops practical policies to address these crises, and shares sensible tools to help empower citizens and groups working for change. Our initial work has focused on grave challenges in a number of African countries: Sudan, eastern Congo, northern Uganda, Somalia, Chad and Zimbabwe.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum |

Mission: A living memorial to the Holocaust, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum inspires citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, promote human dignity, and prevent genocide.

Witness |

Mission: Witness uses video to open the eyes of the world to human rights violations. Witness empowers people to transform personal stories of abuse into powerful tools for justice, promoting public engagement and policy change.
